Thoughts on Visitors, Phoenix Couriers, and New Discoveries

Yesterday was a whirlwind of strange occurrences that I still can’t quite wrap my head around. I woke up to breakfast—always a good start to the day—but my mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the previous night. You see, I had some unexpected visitors. I’m still not sure what to make of them.

Two boys, both around my age, came by the tower. One was huge—Folcmar, I think his name was—he had this wild energy about him and didn’t seem at all bothered by the situation. He made himself at home almost immediately, we had pancakes. I’d almost call him carefree if he didn’t have that air of someone who might be hiding something. The other one, Gavri’el, was… different. Quiet. Intense. He definitely had a leader-like presence, even if he didn’t say much. I felt like he was sizing me up the whole time, like he was trying to figure me out.

I don’t know what exactly they wanted, but they said they were looking for something called the Heartstone. I’ve never heard of it, but from the way they acted, I’m guessing it’s not just some ordinary relic. I can’t help but wonder why they ended up here of all places. They didn’t even seem to know much about it, just that it was supposed to be here. Of course, they didn’t get very far. Smoke bombs and chaos were not exactly what I had in mind for an evening. I thought it would be fun, but things went south pretty quickly, and they left just as fast as they arrived.

But the real mystery—well, the one that’s been gnawing at me all day—is the Phoenix Courier. I didn’t even realize what it was at first. A fiery bird swooping out of the tower like it had somewhere important to be. It was beautiful, mesmerizing even, but now that I think about it, I’m not so sure that it was just some magical accident. I found something in one of the books I dug up today that suggested it was something far more serious. Phoenix Couriers are magical messengers that can deliver letters across great distances—no barriers, no limits. But they can also leave a trace. That’s the part that’s making my stomach twist. If someone used that bird to send a message, then they know where we are.

I found something else, too—an orb, of all things. I don’t know what it is or why I found it, but there’s something about it that doesn’t feel right. It’s like it’s connected to all of this, and I can’t shake the feeling that it’s just the beginning. My father, as calm as ever, seems to think we need to stay alert. He left in a hurry this morning, and I could tell something was off. I think he knows more than he’s telling me, but I’m still not sure how much.

It’s strange. In the quiet of the tower, things feel almost normal, like they always have. But something’s changing, and I’m not sure what to do with it all. The mystery of the Heartstone, the Courier, the orb… I can’t shake the feeling that I’m only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

So, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Hopefully, I’ll have a better handle on it soon. For now, I’ll stick to the familiar stuff: books, magic, and the occasional weird discovery. Because whatever happens, I’ll be ready.

Until next time,
Sarra
